Rethinking the Game Studio Website

Cinnamon builds games for Roblox, worlds driven by interaction, action and discovery. Their previous website did not reflect that energy with its simple one page presence that mainly served as proof that the company existed. The ambition for the new platform was different. Instead of a static portfolio, the site would become an experience that reflects how Cinnamon creates games. At the center of the concept sits a playable 3D claw machine. Visitors can interact with it, grab objects and reveal the studio’s games. Discovery becomes a small game in itself and immediately communicates the playful culture of the studio.

Designing an Experience

The project was approached as an interactive journey rather than a set of pages. The claw machine introduces the experience and naturally leads visitors into the rest of the site. Users explore Cinnamon through movement and interaction instead of traditional navigation. Because the experience relied heavily on realtime 3D, many ideas could not be fully captured in static design tools. Early prototypes and AI generated visual scenes helped communicate the spatial concept and interactive direction, allowing the team to test how the experience could feel before committing to a final design.

A 3D-First Web Experience

From a technical perspective the project treats realtime 3D as the foundation of the website rather than a decorative layer. The experience uses WebGPU rendering together with GPU friendly textures and instancing techniques to keep visuals responsive while maintaining depth and detail. The claw machine itself was modeled with physical components so interactions such as grabbing and swinging feel believable. Performance was a major focus throughout development. Mobile GPUs vary widely, so adaptive resolution, simplified geometry and optimized assets were used to keep the experience smooth across devices.

Beyond a Website

Very early in development the project stopped feeling like a traditional website. Once the 3D hero became something visitors could play with and that interaction flowed into the rest of the experience, the platform started to feel more like an interactive system for exploring the studio. Designers and developers worked closely together, testing ideas directly in the browser and iterating on what felt right. The result is a digital presence that reflects the mindset behind Cinnamon’s games. Instead of simply presenting their work, the website lets visitors experience it.
